The Program

Since the October 7 attacks, hundreds of children and adolescents from Northern and Southern Israel have been living in a state of great emotional vulnerability.
Witnesses to scenes of extreme violence, exposed to daily alerts, sometimes uprooted from their homes or separated from family members, these young people have seen their innocence shattered and their daily lives disrupted.

To offer them a period of respite, rebuilding, and joy, FSJU Israel contributes – with various local contacts and experienced professionals – to fully funded holiday projects, supervised by professionals trained in trauma management and supporting children experiencing post-traumatic stress.

These stays allow them to regain a safe environment, reconnect with social connections, and rebuild bonds within a group, far from sirens, constant anxiety, and family tensions.

This program was developed following numerous discussions with families relocated to hotels or host cities, who expressed a vital need: to see their children come back to life, even if only for a few days.

Historically benefiting children from the south and peripheral areas, it now addresses:
• children from kibbutzim and southern towns, deeply affected by October 7,
• as well as children from northern border communities, exposed to bombings and prolonged evacuations since the start of the conflict.

Thanks to strong partnerships with several educational, therapeutic, and recreational facilities across the country, these holiday camps have become true spaces for resilience and emotional rebuilding.

Several hundred children and adolescents are hosted every summer. Since December 2023, camps have been added during the Passover and Hanukkah holidays.

Objectives

  • To offer a safe, caring, and joyful environment, far from war and stress.

  • To allow children to regain a sense of normalcy, to reconnect with play, friendship, and spontaneity. In a word, to regain their innocence.

  • To foster, through educational, artistic, and sports activities, emotional rebuilding, self-confidence, and inner stability.
